GDPR – the right to be forgotten

In accordance with the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) which is due to come into force on 25 May 2018, the Geoworks7 Customer Services module has been updated to ensure compliance.

In summary, this will mainly affect people who have submitted personal details when logging faults and whose data is therefore stored as part of the fault record. The GDPR states that they have the right to access any personal data (Right of access) and also that they may ask for it to be deleted (Right to erasure).

Right of access
On receipt of a request to check any personal data, a report option is now available to list any instances in both the current and historical records where data is held for the person concerned.

Right to erasure
If a subsequent request is received to delete any or all of the personal data, an option is now available to overwrite all the selected fields with the text “Removed (GDPR)”.
