LoneWorker

Worker Monitoring System

The Lone Worker Monitoring system is a web based tracking system that enables the monitoring of the safety and whereabouts of individual workers in isolated, remote or potentially unsafe locations using a Windows Mobile device.

Automated requests for responses are sent to field workers at preset (adjustable) intervals; the field worker responds to these by inputting a 3 digit PIN code. Provided the field worker responds to the PIN code requests within the set times, their status is automatically updated and no action is required by the monitoring administrator.

GPS locations for each field worker are displayed on a map on the monitor screen and the administrator may zoom in to any current active Lone Worker location if required. An aerial view is available instead of the map, if this is preferred.

If a field worker fails to respond within the set time, a visual and audible alert is displayed on the monitor screen. There is also an additional ‘Panic’ button, which if used will provide a visual and (much louder) audible alert on the monitor screen, prompting appropriate emergency procedures to be in initiated.

Although the main Lone Worker settings are controlled by the Administrator, various settings on the PDA may be amended by the user. These include options to start and/or terminate the monitoring times if these need to differ from the preset times, and to advise the administrator of any potential unavailability if, for example the user is entering an area of poor signal coverage.
